Castello d’Angio’s farm produces organic pistachios.

The harvesting process takes place every two years (odd years), is carried out traditionally, manually, beating the trees and letting the fruits fall on canvas beneath the trees. During resting times (even years), the trees are manually pruned, removing buds before they open. This technique allows the plant to absorb necessary substances from the soil to produce a pistachio full of flavours.

Our organic pistachios are partially used to produce creams like the Organic Pistachio Cream.

Organic Food

Pistachios are the fruits of the pistachio tree (Pistacia Vera). This long-lived plant has a very slow growth: first fruits will appear ten years after the tree plantation.

On the tree, pistachios grow in grape-like clusters and the shell contains the pistachio inside.

In Sicily, the pistachio tree, and particularly in Etna’s territory, grow at more than 400 metres above sea level. Those weather and local conditions, where the ashes from lava streams make the soil highly fertile, promote the growth of the pistachio tree.

Thanks to those weather and local conditions, the sicilian pistachio is absolutely unique and delicious.
